Kundalini Yoga

7 chakra

In the KRI world, I am known as Prakash Seva Singh. Though I have practiced in one form or another some form of yoga through most of my life (my partner, as well as my mother, my two sisters, and my nephew are also all qualified yoga teachers), it is Kundalini Yoga that meets and reflects my own style and temperament.

A typical session begins with an attunement (through a mantra - the Adi mantra), followed by a Kriya (a defined sequence, sometimes preceded by some pranayam (breath work) and/or warmups, Shevasana (relaxation), followed by a meditative practice that includes eye focus, mantra, and mudra.

The Chakra

The work of Kundalini Yoga is to safely unfurl the Kundalini from the base of the spine through the Sushumna (or Sushmana), and allow the descent of divine energy back through the naadis back down through the energetic bodies. There is no 'forcing' to make the Kundalini rise, but rather to prepare the bodies, allowing its vertival movement in a manner that is natural and organic.

This work balances out not only the chakra (singular is 'chakrum'), but also the various bodies. When this occurs, not only do the chakra balance, but one becomes more conscious or aware, with increased compassion, and empowered as a blossoming human being.

Below are the seven main chakra. Descriptions will come later. In the meantime, do refer to my page on Etz ha' Hayim (the Tree of Life), which incorporates elements on the chakra.
